Review: Extortion

Extortion Extortion by Amelia Wilde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Note 2: This is a trilogy. Blackmail is the first. Extortion is second. Coercion is the third and final book, coming January 10 2023.

Triggers: child abuse, abandonment, cons, sexual Russian roulette games, agoraphobia, dementia, kidnap reference, violence.

Wow this second novel really took things to a higher notch. And I’m not sure I can be more impressed.

The drama continues from the last book - as to Bristol trying to find Will.

She finds him but so do her past problems. And now the family is in trouble again? Can Bristol and Will save them while managing their own demons coming at them from every possible angle?

As always the story was on a high note. Despite it seeming repetitive at times, and the cliches only going higher - the story was quite addictive as well in its own right.

Now even the antihero might’ve found love, and some reunions from his family - I’m sure the drama will rise even higher in the next book.

And hopefully more character growth since there wasn’t much difference from the last book. As always loved family appearances from both protagonists ends.

I loved the banter, the chemistry, the writing, the characters (even though the heroine annoyed me sometimes with doormat behaviour), the action of a corporate work office (felt like watching the office but more thrilling and less offensive at least generally). Maybe some romance was there but I still feel it was lacking. But perhaps the final book will indeed solve those qualms too - who knows.

Either way loved this book - and I can’t wait for the next book - the amped tension is high in this one.

Until the next read,
TMR
