Review: Caged

Caged Caged by Bella Matthews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Note 2: This is a series. All books are standalones.

Triggers: something to do with not wanting to be touched (not sure if it's due to an assault or something else), fatal overdose, abandonment, death by brain aneurysm.

This was one of my first Bella Matthews books. And I absolutely loved being on the ride in the journey of Hudson and Maddie's story.

Now I know some reviewers were saying it doesn't sound like friends to lovers, but I really believe it does. I mean they already have a dynamic going, and it kinda reminds me of the dynamic that I used to have with a couple of my own guy friends - but my story with them wasn't like Hudson or Maddie's haha. - so yes you can see a little bit of friendship though it may scream more romance to you.

Plus their entire group dynamic is on fire. And it made me wish I could send an adoption application to them, because you know why wouldn't I want to be a part of their amazing dynamic and their incredibly supportive system? I was just so down for that.

And plus their own little routines in life - I enjoyed that. I loved learning about MMA, and her social media management policies and whatnot.

Plus their entire banter and all - though I do agree a backstory as to how they met would've been nice. I do get their separate backstories but their combined one would've been nice as well.

Also her history of not enjoying being touched...hmm. I was wondering about that too - and it never really gets cleared up. Something which I feel should've been addressed, considering in 80% of the story, it is mentioned.

Overall, I loved being in Huddy and Maddie's world. And the whole supportive group dynamics as well. And the chemistry and romance that lingers - also touching base on heavy topics like addiction, not having a stable childhood, death by brain aneurysm - would've been nice if it was a little more into detail.

But I enjoyed this story!

And I am excited for Shaken - Sawyer's story coming October 2023!

Cannot wait.

Until the next read,
TMR
