Review: Dangerous Temptation

Dangerous Temptation Dangerous Temptation by Giana Darling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This duet is part of the Midnight Dynasty series. This is a duet, so please read in order. Dangerous Temptation is the first, Beautiful Nightmare is the second and last book in the duet, coming December 14th 2021.

Trigger warnings: Gore and violence, drug abuse, epilepsy episodes, slight BDSM-like elements, infidelity, mention of homophobia, facial scarring, age-gap romance, child abuse.

I thought this book would be a simple lusty mafia romance ride. But my god, I was proven wrong so damn bad at every time.

There were so many important issues discussed like the FMC's brother's epilepsy, drug abuse, infidelity, facial scarring, self-deprecating humor, and homophobia.

Fancy writing swayed me even harder towards both MCs and the side Cs just because they had such a 3d personality, and their own issues were explored as well which yes, made me stay up past 5 am to finish this book (yes I was that addicted to read and finish it).

Despite the 12 year age gap between the two MCs, there was just so much chemistry, tension and my god what a new concept but emotional understanding as well, which I hope gets explored more in the next book, but I loved the preview! Plus Henrik, Walcott, and Ezra (I think), were just so damn wonderful to the FMC and her brother, plus their own past tragedies and how they grow to accept it, made me swoon and cry almost with how touchingly and achingly tragic it all was, and how even the most high flying humans can have their own fall from grace too, as this book apparently seems to teach.

This novel overall was so much and more, and I was never left disappointed. I don't think I have any proper words to address just how dark, delicious and utterly wonderful this book was, just like having dark chocolate, hehe.

But so worth it was, to read and enjoy this so damn much. Can't wait for the next book.

Until the next read,

-TMR
