Review: The Chestnut Man

The Chestnut Man The Chestnut Man by Søren Sveistrup
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Warning: Gory scenes (mutilation, murder discussions), child molestation, rape, child pornography, violence, sexual violence, some sexual discussion, child abuse, abduction, most characters being extremely evil. This is not for the faint of heart. Read at your own discretion.

The novel had started off great - brilliant writing, tons of action, the pacing was fast, and confusion was in the midst too.

But still great. Then the middle part comes in.

The middle part - confusion, heck loads of it. Too many long scenes, irrelevant most of the time.

But luckily, the end made all the difference to my original rating.

The end -explaining everything confusing to the reader, adding a nice little bow to summarise and tie it up all just right.

Really loved the end for those reasons.

It is a truly complex and emotionally mind boggling read, but if you're the right audience for it, it will be worth it.

Enjoy, if you read it.

Until the next read,

TMR
