Review: Burned Promises

Image
Burned Promises by Willow Winters My rating: 5 of 5 stars Gosh, this book was just phenomenal. Despite it being a bit short as compared to my other reads, Winters did not disappoint with character building, plot driving, extension of both characters' lives, and setting. We first meet the female protagonist Emma, who's almost finished graduating uni and living at her sister's house studying for her final year. Meanwhile her sister is busy romancing her boyfriend, friend of Emma's ex-boyfriend Derek, the male protagonist. All in all, it's all going fine, until one day when Emma's sister invites her boyfriend and Derek, who comes face-to-face with his ex-girlfriend and first love. Tension runs as Emma faces Derek and the baggage of his past, trying to better things while reclaiming their love and starting a new life. Meanwhile Derek has his own problems aside from the businesses Emma doesn't approve of. But then Emma makes De...

Review: Cold, Hard & Heartless

Image
Cold, Hard & Heartless by M.V. Ellis My rating: 5 of 5 stars This novel was just fantastic. Literally loveable and more than anything in the world. This is after Catching London with Arlo's thoughts this time. Catching London revolves around London and her world solely. Arlo and London have such chemistry, and there's no denial in it. At first glance Arlo knows that not just physically, there's more to London than what she looks like and he wants her enough to know her more. And knowing that they are meant to be together whether London believes it not is Arlo's mission. Arlo and London are so suited for another despite their polar personalities such as Arlo being a no commited man in relationships and believing the worl is filled with crap. London, with her horrible singing (if you have read the novels, you know this is true) but ambitious, caring personality knows that there is some hope in the world. Woah what polar opposities.....

Review: Risk

Image
Risk by K.B. Rose My rating: 0 of 5 stars I can't even bother to rate let alone feel the need to point out true feelings for this novel. Where do I start even? Let's see, we first see our main hero, a bodyguard hired by the heroine's father to basically get her back from her "unstable" mother. He agrees and sets off. Next scene we see is the heroine at her mother's house, sneaking out and making negotiations with her father about when she comes back, and heartfelt confessions about why her father treats her mother like garbage. Another scene later, we see the girl reach her mother's house and basically spend time with her and her young boyfrend who is not afraid of showing some interest in the girl herself despite being the boyfriend of someone else. Talk about a scumbag sucking up the girl's mother's love for him. Not the weird thing only though as we also meet another character, a weird girl who spends time wit...

Review: Dropping In

Image
Dropping In by Carrie Quest My rating: 5 of 5 stars Second book in the series written by Carrie Quest. This book was fabulous as heck. We first meet Natalie, a roomate of Piper Easton, Ben Easton's sister, a struggling writer and, a daughter pressured constantly by her parents, and a person who believes that she can never finish anything, a commitment phobe in almost every aspect (her words, not mine). Then an accidental meeting with Ben Easton, as Natalie doesn't realise who he is and throws the satanic pet of a devil, Chuckles (yes the ironic fact), on to poor Ben. Gosh, do I feel bad for Ben. Hope Chuckles let most of him live longer. After the first meeting between both, there are sparks, flames of desire that pull them together and are certainly very hard to resist. It's because Ben's babes say so. And you do not disagree with true information. Soon, they are together but it doesn't mean that it's all roses and sunshine. ...

Review: I Bet You

Image
I Bet You by Ilsa Madden-Mills My rating: 5 of 5 stars Note: I got an ARC copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. DAMN..... Literally my first words when I read the first few sentences of the book. I must confess I haven't read anyone like Penelope in any book. And I must also confess that Ryker was almost like the cliched jock I had met in other books. But for some reason, all I think is whew, what a rollercoaster ride I had with Penelope and Ryker. We first meet Penelope sitting in a restaurant, a waitress, dreaming of a sea-filled steamy romance with a dashing pirate (like her rom-coms in her private stock) but each time, the pirate is someone she hates. Oh such hate. And for that only one human being. Ryker the god of good looks and absolute excellence in sports. And then "garcon!" comes in. Literally. I tell you literally. Clearly, people should have been able to tell the difference between a fille and garcon (a boy ...

Review: Pinned

Image
Pinned by Kristal McKerrington My rating: 5 of 5 stars A very short read. But a very fine read. We first meet Alex, a Scottish wrestler who has travelled all the way to the States for the first time for his champion ship. Along the way, he meets Carrie, his agent and with a spirit of fire that amuses Alex a lot. They fight like cat and mouse through most of the book but of course there's the element of sizzling chemistry. There's no denial in that. Overall a very fine, fantastic, and fabulous book! This book is everything you would see in a sports-filled, sizzling, but short novel. I hope you enjoy! -J.B View all my reviews

Review: Because of Liam

Image
Because of Liam by Erica Alexander My rating: 0 of 5 stars Not interested in rating. But here’s the story and my general opinion. First of all, we meet logan’s brother Liam and he meets river. She makes quite an impression and then continues to give a hard time to Liam. I am not suprised when he dislikes her at first. And that’s oretty much it, in terms of what I read. Opinion: Well this book sucks, it does truly. Heck the first book was much more tolerable. This one, oh god help me for reading this, really just pissed me off, and was mostly due to river’s hard exterior. Poor Liam. And if he’s a marines guy, you really think they are going to be a polite, nice version of Prince Charming? Well then, you need to get your facts checked. Otherwise this is not a book to be recommended. Toodles, -J.B View all my reviews

Review: Unraveling You

Image
Unraveling You by Jessica Sorensen My rating: 5 of 5 stars Trying to hold back my tears as I write this review. Not really but regardless, it pulled at my heart strings. This is truly one awesome book! Starting in the novel we see Lyric Scott, a very sunshiny, happy, optimistic, bright girl who's always wanted to be a musician just like her dad but always feels she lacks that tragic feel and emotional regard to write heart-breaking but incredible lyrics. Meanwhile her next door neighbours are busy bringing in a new adoptee who she thinks is another one of them, since she sees them bringing in different kids almost every day. But this time there's something special in the adopted one brought in. Shoulder length black hair, piercing gray eyes, a scarred body and heart but ever searching for a happy life for himself, his name is Ayden. He intrigues her, with his despairing looks and heartbreaking story, and soon she feels for him, supports him a...

Review: All About You

Image
All About You by Joanna Mazurkiewicz My rating: 4 of 5 stars I honestly don't know what to say in proper sentences. But since I am writing this, I have to. This novel wasn't great but not terrible either. It was...good. In the novel we have India, the main female protagonist going to her favorite uni: Braxton along with her rich, spoiled best friend Dora (reminds me of Dora the explorer). Anyway... In the university, we then meet Oliver, enemy of India and brother to India's previous ex-boyfriend (not on friendly terms as you can see) (who had made Oliver's life miserable in high school basically). Anyway, Oliver, the male protagonist then plans revenge for what India did to him. It's all going great but then you know things don't always go according to plan (especially when you used to have a thing for that same person) They fall in love (at least India does) all over again but I told ya, things never do go to plan. And so th...

Review: Shameless

Image
Shameless by M. Malone My rating: 5 of 5 stars Well... Um... THIS NOVEL WAS FABULOUS! I shouldn't have to scream really, but there were some pretty great things about this novel. Like their SIZZLING chemistry! (Excuse me, I just fangirled a bit.) And the mystery, is definitely there, hiding but slowly emerging out the shadows, and definitely steps are taken to solve it. And of course, what a great bunch of friends, both characters have, honestly. They are honest, funny but helpful and supportive. No one could replace them in that novel. I say it. Regardless, there's epic chemistry, great family bonding, peeks into the past, and of course friendship with the rest of the gang. So this is a novel I absolutely recommend and I bet a hundred pennies you'd like it, if you are especially into a cup full of steamy romance, a dash of comedy, a pinch of friendship, and a quarter of a mystery, all rolling out into a steamy drink of your choice. Enjoy...

Review: Before Midnight

Image
Before Midnight by Jennifer Blackstream My rating: 5 of 5 stars This was a fabulous book. Hands down! Never thought the concept of werewolves would fit in with an old classic fairytale like Cinderella. But this author has proved me wrong! As we see in the beginning, We have Loupe, a cursed werewolf who lives with her stepmother and her two evil, cruel stepsisters, after her father dies. She is a servant to her family (like the fairytale) and in her responsibility to deal with whatever chores her stepmother has set for her. Then we get a glimpse of Prince Etienne (I just love French names) (Also our Prince Charming) who is enchanted by our lovely heroine, Loupe, vowing to see her again. But of course you know, you cannot have a story without a couple of twists. Let's just the stepsisters will do anything for the prince's hand and the monarchy. And the stepmother is not just calm, sophisticated. She is willing to be dirty to get her hands on wh...

Review: DARK MCKENNA, A Billionaire Dark Romance

Image
DARK MCKENNA, A Billionaire Dark Romance by Shayne Ford My rating: 2 of 5 stars Ah, the usual steamy romance with no paved road of continuity of a novel. The novel starts like this: We meet the main heroine, a girl who has no home, no luxury or basic necessities to live a normal life. After almost 3 chapters we figure out that she's a prostitute. I don't even know why the author didn't start with the fact that she is a prostitute from the beginning. Next comes the bad guy but still our hero who coincidentally becomes her next "client". They have a steamy encounter, then they don't meet again for some time. After a few weeks, he again shows up, "coincidentally" showing up and rescuing her from a group of goons (also his staff). They again have some steaming chemistry, then he again leaves her for a while. AGAIN after a few weeks, he meets with her, and you know the drill. But this time he sticks with her, showing he...

Review: What Happened to Goodbye

Image
What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen My rating: 5 of 5 stars My Opinion: What I Liked: It was just so heartfelt, realistic, and moral-worthy. What Happened to Goodbye was a story that I could relate to in almost every way. Moving around is not easy, especially when you have had lifelong friendships and relationships with people you’ve known your entire life. And suddenly moving out of the blue does put a monkey wrench in whatever you had established and you’re certainly not going to be happy about it. And moving around a lot can make a person nervous and even run from commitments like friendships or other relationships because they fear they will have to uproot to somewhere else again. And Mclean definitely portrays all the emotions and characteristics of a person tired of moving around a lot but willing to do it again (since it’s been like that for her whole life) and I understand her nervousness for commitments when she meets Dave, Riley, Deb a...
